hmm, i really don't understand why people really mind the change of covers, a lot of times it just introduces readers from other genres into an existing series. personally i like the uk version better, and i can't wait till i get my copy :) good work to you and your marketing team, keep it up! *hearts betsy*

Cover schmover. The real question is WHEN DOES THE BLOODY BOOK COME OUT? Can I get an ARC? Please? I've been a good girl all year. Really.

Only just finished reading the first book and all I can say is "Wow." Came to you through a complete addiction to Kim Harrison's writings, and I'm glad I did. What a great concept and great characters! Can't wait to dig into the rest of the series and cement a new addiction!

Okay, i understand the reasoning behind the new cover... I even agree. That said though, the new cover doesn't look like a MJD book. It just... doesn't. It looks more like an L.A Banks, or even YA Vampire book. I Like the UK cover. But...
You are right that a lot of the newer paranormal romance(ish) books are copying that style of cover, so c'est le vie.
In the end, I don't care what the cover looks like, I care about what's inside. As long as it is still your fantastic writing, that is all that matters.

well its not the covers I've come to know and love for the Betsy books--but it's still a Betsy book and therefore--wins

I LOVE that second one!

I like the UK version better, but bottom line, it's the story I care about so I'll still end up buying the book - but given the choice, I'll go for the UK version because it does match the book covers of past Undead books. :)

I like the UK version better -- I can understand wanting to update the look, but the Betsy on the US cover just is too urban - almost grungy - for our fashionista Betsy. But it's not going to stop me from reading the book, of course :-)

I like the UK one better. Might I ask, is that a ghost on the cover near her?

Anyway, looks great.

i have to say i love the uk covers...

I have to say I like the UK cover alot more than the other cover. The other one doesn't look very Betsy like at all!!

Oh and I wouldn't mind which cover anyway. I just want the book NOW!!!!

I wish they hadn't changed the cover art style. I really liked the previous cover art and felt it better reflected the book style than the new one. The new cover gives it a more serious feel. If this was the original cover art style, I probably would not have been as readily attracted to the book. The original cover art grabbed my attention immediatly.

I absolutely love the Betsy books, but I'm one of the book snobs who judges books on the cover. Love the UK version, but I won't be spending money on a HC cover that looks like a graphic novel of a 14 year old grunge Betsy. I'll be waiting for paperback. I've never understood why publishers want to change the look of a series before it's finished being released.

I liked the UK one ALOT better than the US one. BUT I wont care which one I as long as I get my grubby hands on it quick! I need my SINCLAIR fix!!!!!

I really love the UK version. But of course, now that we're all hooked on Betsy, the cover won't make a darn difference! LOL!

Second cover, definitely!

HOnestly love how the original covers have been: betsy, and then somewhere there is always a little bat...it's cute but if these are the only choices, the second, the first just does not fit.

The first cover looks like a tacky Nagel print from the 80's. The second cover is much better and keeps in line with the cute and quirky previous covers.

I understand the reasoning behind changing the cover...but Betsy would not be caught dead looking like that! It looks like some punk teen vamp assassin or something.I loved seeing the new covers and waiting to see how Betsy was going to hide her face..and where the bats were. It was cute. It was actually what made me pick up the books. I would not look at that cover and think "paranormal chick lit". I'm still going to read it...but I'm not a big fan of the cover. Sorry =(

MJD, I love the new cover, I just pre-ordered Mine. I feel the cover gives an image to Betsy that I have been juggling with while reading your series. perhaps the next cover can give us an idea of what Sinclair looks like. :-)

I secretly hate the new covers. No that's a lie, I'm posting it on the internet and that means I openly hate it. I can understand why it is, well, the way it is, but I dont see it drawing anyone's attention in a positive manner and I dont see it as being "betsy". Let alone that it doesn't live up to the fashion friendly betsy hype, it doesn't do justice to the character and I personally find that to be a big no no. Don't get me wrong, I'll still read it because I love you like I love the Lavin fall collection. BUT. ... ... I mean REALLY! The girl looks like she would not only consider, but wear those tacky "heel-less" marc jacobs shoes! (Oh, and by the way, those Antonio Berardis were an improvement but still vomit inducing. Like the excorcist gone terribly, terribly arwy.)

If you really want a change, I suggest something actually different from what the rest of those glossy-cover-loving nimrods would use...Something that could possibly be mistaken for a vogue cover. Oh, and if it's gloss you want, go crazy with it! put on two layers! (does gloss go on in layers? I suppose not.)

With much love and devotion,
Jennifer

I agree with everyone else and dont like the new cover. the old ones are a lot better in that they dont give you an idea of what Betsy looks like which I think is important, okay you get a vague outline that she is tall thin and blonde but it leaves the rest to imagination, if you are given a picture of the lead character or for that matter a picture of any of the great characters where is the use of your brain? I like to figure it out for myself and think that a picture would simply ruin it for me, especially if its this late in the series and not at all what I imagined. The UK covers are aso very artsy and colorful which makes them great and sets them aside from the usual bland cover. Love the books! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Being from the Uk i'm used to the Uk covers and i love them, it always seems weird to see the US ones when i'm online, i do like them though.

Isn't there also another cover for the paperback versions. From another publisher? Berkley or something. With the happy colors ^^. I like those the most. But I can't find the new book with that cover, does anybody knows if it will come? Cause I bought all the books with that cover, and it will look kinda lame if i buy the new book with the wrong cover xD. I really love the serie, and would love to read the new book :).

I have the paperback Betsy's in the 'happy colours' (sorry using your description as it was better and shorter than the one I was going to use ;_))as well. I was also hoping that there be a cover the same as them. Whilst I do like the above UK version over the US one...over both I'd prefer the 'happy colours'. But I will still purchase the UK version cover here in OZ just so I can read it.
